This weeks POTW is…

Ariana Karastanovic.

15 year old, Ariana, is a stud two-way flag football player for “The Home Team”, otherwise known as THT. She was born in Staten Island, New York and currently attends Tottenville High School as a sophomore, where she also plays flag football. Ariana first discovered flag thanks to her dad in the 5th grade and it was love at first sight! “When I joined THT, I instantly clicked with everyone on my team and just started playing more from there.” Throughout her very young career Ariana has managed to play on some of the biggest stages the sport has to offer! One such stage was USA’s Junior National Select Bowl where the best youth flag athletes all over the world were invited for a chance to make the USA Junior National roster. Ultimately Ariana fell short of making the 15-girl roster after making it to the top 50 but she had this to say, ”Being selected to the USA select bowl was a great experience.” She continued by saying, “it was an opportunity to realize that you have to put in the work, ultimately I did take it as a way to work harder and hopefully next year do better altogether.” Work harder she did! This past weekend at Oakley’s Icon Alliance tournament, held at the New York Jets facility, Ariana showed out on both sides of the ball. Going against the top high school travel team from the East Coast she managed to lead her team to the top spot in the tournament. When asked about her experience she replied, “I recognized many of the teams from playing them before but I knew that it wasn’t going to just be given to us. Our team worked hard and showcased it, being the first team to qualify.” While individually talented, She displays a team first mentality and shows up when the team needs her. Arianna’s impressive performance this weekend has earned her the right to be this weeks Player Of The Week!
